sad saturday

So, every Saturday there’s this amazing food market in Rennes, with gorgeous fruits and vegetables and cheese and bread. All week I had been talking about how much I couldn’t wait to go Saturday morning and take tons and tons of pictures there. So last night I set my alarm for (gasp!) 10 am, wanting to get there bright and early. However, I woke up around 9:30 to the sound of rain pounding on my window. I wasn’t too concerned, since it’s totally normal in Rennes for it to rain in the morning and then be beautiful by 11. But then when I looked out my window, and saw the endless mass of grey clouds, I knew it was going to rain all day.

I went to the market anyway, hoping I could take some pictures through the rain. But trying to balance my camera and my umbrella while trying to take a picture without getting my camera wet while also trying to avoid getting poked in the eye by an umbrella while also trying to not get in anyone’s way was just too infuriating. I took about ten pictures and then had to leave.

Lesson learned today: never wait until the last day to take pictures of something as beautiful as the Saturday market in Rennes.
